Wroclaw is a city in Poland located by the Odra River, in the south western area. It’s the largest city in the Silesia region. It has a population of 641,928 (2020).

Wroclaw can be defined as a small national treasure and obtains a special spot in the hearts of the citizens. It has many qualities and is a major industrial, commercial and educational centre. Especially in terms of education, Wroclaw exceeds all neighbouring large cities by student numbers. The University of Wroclaw occupies more than 24000 students every year, of which many chose to settle close by the campus in Wroclaw, which means student accommodation and housing is an important focal point for the local authorities.

Apart from the educational, industrial and commercial qualities, Wroclaw is incredibly charming and beautiful. The architecture is quite unique in contrast to other polish cities, as the influence from the neighbouring cultures just across the border, has resulted in a peculiar mixture of architectural styles. The city town square ‘Rynek’ is a perfect example of this. In the middle stands a marketplace-building in … with treasures like  rocks, amber and silver in all shapes and sizes. Surrounding the square is a wall of colourful apartment buildings pushed up against one another.

If you look closely in the streets of Wroclaw you might notice one or more tiny bronze dwarves, doing good and bad, heisting themselves up buildings and watering plants in the street pots. This is a characteristic of the city, and more than 300 small statues are placed throughout the streets for people to find. You can buy or get a ‘dwarf map’ and go on an adventure finding them all, while seeing all parts, both known and less known, of the beautiful city.

Museums are a big thing in the city as well, with plenty of different specialities, there's sure to be something you’re interested in, such as architecture, art, historical artefacts etc. They are all placed conveniently throughout the city borders, and can either be reached by foot, or by public transport. The public transport of Wroclaw is said to be both efficient, unproblematic and reliable. You can travel by bus, tram, train or even rent a bike.

Settling in Wroclaw is the perfect option if you’re looking for a place in Poland. Especially students meet a lot of benefits in the form of social gatherings, lively bars, great opportunities for study groups and places to study alone etc. This of course also benefits all others who prioritise these kinds of qualities.
